Well, we are starting this whole potty training thing over. We tried a few months ago because she seemed to be ready according to all the potty-training "checklists". However, she HATED it! She would literally have a meltdown every time we tried to sit her on the potty. We figured it wasn't worth making her so upset and maybe it was a little too soon, so we backed off for awhile. We are starting back up this week, and it's going fairly well. She was a little hesitant at first, "No, Mommy, I want to leave my diaper ON!" but she's adjusting pretty well and even excited to go at times. I took her to Target yesterday and let her pick out a bunch of new big girl panties and she couldn't wait to get home and put them on. We are going through them pretty fast- at least 2-3 an hour (!)- but at least everytime she wets in them, she tells me she's going and runs to the potty. I know I'm going to be doing a lot of laundry, but pull-ups have never seemed to work- she just wets in them like a diaper and keeps on going. I'm hoping after a few days, she will be able to make it to the potty before she wets (at least occasionally). Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Everyone needs a little music on the potty!
This was too funny! She said, "Come on, Daddy! Come and sing on the potty with me!"

sam was actually pretty easy and they say that boys are suppose to be hard. you can look back at my blog to june to read about how it went for me. i wanted to cry about the first 3-4 days! we stayed outside most of the time though so there wasn't a mess inside. too bad you can't do that. they do make those plastic pants that go over real underwear that may help. once he went to underwear we never turned back! he still plays a little too long sometimes, runs in at the last minute, and barely makes it to the potty. she'll get there! hang in there!
I know everyone says it, but they really won't do it until it's their idea and, in my opinion, the fight is not worth it. Abby was peeing in the potty really young, but she was by no means ready to potty train. It was simply the potty was there, we would have to put her on it, etc. Once I realized she didn't really want to do it, yet, we stopped, too. Then, she just decided one day that was it. (we have always left the potty out, in case she wanted to go). Now she HATES the thought of a diaper and doesn't want to wear a pull up at night, but we told her that if she can wake up 3mornings in a row dry, she can wear panties to bed, too. I don't know, to me, the charts, etc. just don't work. Abby liked gettig m&m's, but then she would sit there FOREVER forcing things out just to get an m&m-haha!, so we nipped that pretty quick, also. I guess what I am saying is, don't stress...she won't go to Kindergarten in a diaper...if she is acting interested you are just about there. I am betting that in the next few weeks she will be a potty champ! :)
It sounds like she is well on her way. It will happen...sooner or later. Hannah was the same way with a pull up, it was just like a diaper to her. Once she started wearing panties all the time it helped a lot! My aunt also bought her a potty book that she would love to read.
