I was having a normal, crazy night at work this past weekend, practically running down the hall with a hundred things on my to-do list. A lady stopped me, grabbed my hands, and said, "Oh, Melissa, dear! I was hoping I would see you while we were here!" I looked at her and, while she looked somewhat familiar, couldn't quite place her, her family, or her "story". She went on, "How are you? Did you have that baby? How is he? What did you name him?" She talked for several minutes, telling me that ever since I had taken care of her husband a year ago, the two of them had thought of me often and wondered about my baby and his big sister. She said they prayed often for my children and for me as a young mother. Of course, I was a little taken back and more than a little touched. I thanked her and told her that meant so much to me. She said, "Well, dear, you were such a blessing to us when we needed it most. Remembering you in prayer was the least we could do."
Wow. That was a blessing to me. She was a blessing to me. And I have thanked God for that encounter with her many times since then. I'm so grateful I had the right attitude at work the night I took care of her husband, because there are so many nights I definitely don't. It's so easy to get caught up in just getting the job done, but you just never know whose heart you may touch, whose spirit you may comfort, what someone may take away from a meeting with you. She reminded me to not neglect the small things, like that saying No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. You just never know...

What a beautiful story, Melissa!!
God is amazing and how wonderful that you touched someone that much that they would seek you out to tell you what you did for them. Keep up the good work!
That is so sweet!
